I notice the oil capacity of my 2019 GLA 250 is 5.9 quarts. The Mobil 1 oil jug at local retailers is sold in a 5 quart capacity. Can anyone advise if they are filling the engine with 5.9 quarts after a bottom pan drain oil and filter change or if something around 5 quarts is sufficient to bring up the oil to capacity. (i also understand overfilling can be detrimental). i have a difficult time reading the dipstick after an oil change. Just curious. Thanks in advance, I always get useful. information from this site:)(y)

Most everyone has difficulty reading the dipstick for oil level, but still the best way to go. I've had some recent Audi vehicles with no dipstick and therefore only auto-indication.
Clean it off every time and make sure it is fully seated for the next read.

Overfilling as you know is actually worse than underfilling so once near 5 Qts go with small increments and frequent checks. And of course the new oil will be relatively cool even if you've heated the engine to better facilitate draining. As @Wayne well cites you're always diluting old oil to some degree as even with a pan drain you don't get all of it. That jug should be fine but I always have another quart available just in case. Besides you may need some to top up at some point.

Thereafter the change it's good to recheck the level after a day or two of driving. That check should be post-drive after a few minutes of the vehicle sitting idle and observing the "full hot" indicator on the dipstick.
