Hi all! First post, first MB. Bought a 2015 GLA 250 4Matic, Canadian in February.

I understand that the NTG 4.5/4.7 like mine has some sort of MB internet capability. I was wondering if I could tether (BT, USB or something) my phone as a wifi hotspot or something so I can access apps and web services. Is that possible? Can't seem to figure it out or find a thread on it.

Many thanks.

Welcome to the GLA forum! I am not sure what the capability was for 2015 models, but subsequent years do have some limited capability, or were rumored to IIRC, to serve as a wifi spot using your smart phone as the source. I typed "wifi capability" in our Search feature (box on upper right of most browsers) and only found a few references that somewhat leaves the question unsettled. Hopefully one of our members with later models will jump in with more current information.

Thanks for looking into it turbolink. Fingers crossed there is a way!
I figure there must be a way since there are internet setup options...

Clear what you are wanting to do.

1. The GLA be a hot spot and the phone connect to the internet via the GLA.

2. The cell phone is a hot spot and the GLA connects to the internet via the phone.

In the Owners manual for Command starting on page 157 is info about using the Mercedes App. There is instructions for USA and Canada.

https://www.mbusa.com/en/owners/manuals

Select 2015 and than scroll down to GLA and click on Command Manual.

Hi gbarringer,

Option 2 is what my intention was.

Thank you for the info! I did manage to connect a phone as the internet source for the GLA! However the phone I wanted to use (let's call it phone A), couldn't be connected as an internet source for some reason. I'm not tech savvy enough to understand why lol. The phone that did work (phone B), wirelessly tethered to the GLA almost automatically via bluetooth (did not have to punch in any data, parameters, passwords, etc. Just selected it from the list of providers that automatically showed on the list when I switched bluetooth on). So it's sort of a win. The phone I wanted to use as a connection (phone A) has always been connected for calls and music, but unable to use as an internet source. i.e. it does not show up as a provider. So this is still something I have to figure out.

That said, is bluetooth the only way to tether the internet connection?....wifi, usb, etc.. not an option?
