There are tubes within the structure that are designed to drain from roof to the ground. However they can get clogged with debris over time and water can back up into the vehicle. Very possibly this is the root cause.
This is common on most vehicles and a maintenance item that most don't pay enough attention until there's an issue. Here's a good example of sunroof channel cleaning/maintenance which also touches upon cleaning the drain tubes.
Likely this time when it's in for service they'll do a more complete diagnosis, to include the drain tubes, and resolve. I would certainly ask if/request they inspect and test same. All the best.
