Yea i hear you there, but thats pretty standard for mercedes interiors, especially on the lower class ones. CLA and A class have it, it looks like Mercedes took thier interiors piece for piece for the GLA. the GLA is the CLA with sheetmetal changes.![]()
To me, it looks like somebody decided at the last minute that a touch screen was needed. I want to rip it off. Or perhaps a thief will beat me to it!
someone at Mercedes consciously designed the GLA,CLA and A class nav screen to look like a glued on GPS unit? Good GOD this is going downhill faster than i thought ;/It definitely wasn't an afterthought. For better or worse, they consciously wanted it too look that way. I agree, with a look like that, I expect it recede into the dash when the car is turned off.
I would just like the smallest indentation so that it looks like it has a spot for itself carved out in the car. You'd just think they would be able to incorporate it better than me buying an aftermarket part and installing it myself on the dashboard.an infotainment screen being one with the dash and not just some screen standing on top of it would be better but i guess this is the new thing to do in the industry. i think even BMW is doing this.
I agree about the location-it's pretty easy to read, and the look doesn't bother me. I wish they had built in some split screen ability. It's a pain going through screens looking for the one you want. Our Lexus lets us have a couple of different things at once. It would be especially good to have something else on with the map. Maybe that's possible with the 2016, that doesn't use Becker. I am still trying to figure out the button to the left of the volume control labeled DISC. It probably should be labeled MEDIA or SOURCE, because that's the one you push to change where your noise comes from.I have always disliked the look of it. It looks like an aftermarket screen someone added to the car post purchase. BUT after driving the GLA for awhile, I find that this screen placement actually is easier to red than a screen integrated into the dash face.
