Hi All,
New owner of a 2019 GLA 45 AMG with very few miles on it (6k). I have noticed over the last few days of ownership that when reversing out of the driveway and turning the steering wheel left (CCW), a knocking noise will sometimes appear (maybe 60 to 70% of the time). The sound produces itself when the wheel is maybe 3/4 the way toward the maximum leftward deflection. It sounds like it is originating from the front driver side, near the footwell, but it's kind of hard to say for sure. The car has very low mileage and shows no signs of abuse by the previous single owner. Any idea what the likely cause of this sound is (ball joint, ... ?).
I know this vehicle has sort of an AWD setup, so perhaps this is normal? I haven't noticed the sound when turning the wheel in the other direction or under any other circumstances.
UPDATE
After some more driving today, I noticed that the knocking noise also presented itself when reversing and turning the wheel toward full right as well (about 3/4 to 4/5 full travel).
