Transmission Fluid Replacement

Hey Everyone, I have a 2015 GLA 45 AMG and was wondering when i should do a transmission fluid change? i bought the car with 34k kms on it 8 months ago and have just crossed 40k kms on the car. According to the Service Records the car has never had a transmission fluid change. Should i do it or should i just leave it? The car currently drives fine.

Presumably therefore eight years now without a transmission fluid change and you have to ask? ;)

I'll let @Wayne re-emphasize his similar model year AMG far more periodic oil/transmission/differential fluid change schedule.

General Reference Maintenance schedule (MY2016):

MB recommended interval for the 7G AMG Speedshift is 48,000 km. I think more like 40,000 km is better.

If you don’t have any weird shifts then I wouldn’t worry about it and just get it done in the next 5,000 km or so.

It is a pretty involved, and therefore pricey, service. There’s two filters, and special computer steps for refilling. Usually it’s a dealer service but reputable independents with the necessary scan tools can do it too. Not really a DIY job IMO unless you really know what you’re doing and have a Xentry rig.

30K miles service interval. DCTs are expensive. I would err on the side of early service. I refresh the rear diff oil every other oil change (5K miles for oil, 10K miles for rear diff).

I DIY the motor oil and rear diff, but won't touch the DCT. There are some on this Forum with more courage who have done the service themselves. Perhaps they will chime in.

Got it thanks so much for your help. i think ill have it done now as then i could have some worry free motoring. Yeah i was quoted 400$ at an indy shop and about 600$ at a dealer. Will most likely go with the indy shop as they have always worked on my car and done a great job.

This. Can't stress enough the importance of changing the tranny and rear diff. I did the tranny when I first got my '15 off lease, around 19k miles, and will be doing it again next year around 33-34k. For whatever reason the service has gotten much more expensive at the dealer, here it's around $900 where last time it was about 500. I've also done the rear diff twice. Either one is going to be very expensive if you start having issues.

I did mine myself last year, it took me about 2 hours. One bolt behind the crash structure was difficult to get to.

Both two filters and gaskets are the same parts as on my W176 A180. I used Valvoline DCT MB236.21 6.3 quarts, Anti-foam additive A001989940313. I filled through the dipstick tube.

I borrowed Xentry from a friend.

No more difficult than any other car, IMHO.
