The guys at TFL.com have taken the GLA250 out into some off-road territory in order to test out how it does outside of the perfectly paved streets that it usually is found on. According to this review, the GLA250 does pretty good off-road.

The biggest issue seems to be the tires, which are not really made for off-roading. The GLA250 also has Hill Descent Control and Off-Road Mode. The Off-Road Mode switches power so that the rear and front wheels each get 50%.

The GLA250 takes on off-roading with technology instead of old school things like approach angle and off-road tires.

Airing out the stock tires a bit, staying within safe levels, will help with grip on off-road. But considering those are summer tires aka performs best on dry pavement.... it did well.

How do you embed vids like that?

My take away from that video is that if you find yourself on a Rocky Mountain road, the GLA will be OK. I expect if you tried to actually go off road, it wouldn't fare quite as well.

Basically it's up to par with what a vehicle like this should be capable of, can't expect it to go to the extreme's. For most owners this will be more than enough.

It is definitely good enough for most especially considering the low profile summer tires the car is equipped with.

If you are a serious off-roader, the GLA should probably not be an option for you.

I'm not one to do serious off roading as a sport, but it's nice to know that if I find myself in less than ideal near-off-road conditions, my GLA has the off-road mode to help me. That was my point.

And that's the key thing, these are summer tires! Tires that are not meant for these conditions. If we had all seasons you could expect better.

As those summers wear, your concern should raise.
