That commercial is really good. I wonder how much it cost them to license Mario though. He must charge a pretty hefty price to endorse a product. I think that this commercial shows that Mercedes is aiming at a younger demographic. The older folks just don't have the same relationship with Mario.

Silly that he jumped entirely over the flag at the end though. Doesn't he know that if you hit the top of the flag then you get 5000 points?

I think that it is a pretty good idea to put vehicles in Mario Kart. In some way s I think that it ruins the fantastical aura of the game though. It might be cooler if Benz designed virtual go kart specifically for Mario kart. Not quite as good product placement, but it would still give brand exposure.

I do find it strange. I mean figure the Wii is typically a system geared more towards youth than Microsoft or Playstation, so the product placement is pretty much lost on the young audience, and for those older people who do play because of nostalgia or whatever I agree with Truth that it takes away from the whimsy that is MArio KArt...

it's probably their effort to really stretch their branding to a point that even kids will spot them on the road. It's cool IMO... use the car in the game and then spot it on the street...kids will love it, tell their parents about it.
