One of the challenges of having a on-line forum such as the Mercedes GLA Forum, is that spammers love posting spam messages.

Forum spam is the creation of advertising messages on Internet forums. It is generally done by automated spambots. Most forum spam consists of links to external sites, with the dual goals of increasing search engine visibility in highly competitive areas such as weight loss, pharmaceuticals, gambling, pornography, real estate or loans, and generating more traffic for these commercial websites. Some of these links contain code to track the spambot's identity; if a sale goes through, the spammer behind the spambot works on commission. Also links can contain malware and viruses.

One of the 'jobs' of the moderators is to catch spam early and delete. Most of the spam messages are coming regions in India, Russia and Ukraine and as such much of the spam is being posted in time zones that are about 12 hours opposite of the US where the moderators are located…this allows spam to exist for a period of hours before we can delete.

Spammers want people to click on the post and then on the links and there is a temptation to do such BUT DON'T. The more that click on spam links the more spam we will get.

So, to protect yourself and to help eliminating spam on the forum, please ignore obvious spam (one good indicator is the post title does not have anything to do with GLA or cars (except in 'Off Topic'), but if you do click on a post and see spam links avoid clicking on the links.
