The "mirror drop" feature to allow you to see the rear wheel to avoid curb rash damage when backing up only works if you have the mirror adjusting switch set for that mirror. That gives you the option to have the mirror drop or not. There are times you want the drop (parallel parking) and times you may not (backing up a long distance).
Programming the position into memory is best done with the Owner's Manual open to that page!!!
It's easy, with car in reverse and foot on the brake, push the right mirror button and then adjust mirror as you want. Put car in Drive and adjust mirror as you wish. If you leave the right mirror button depressed then when in reverse the mirror will depress. If you don't want it to depress then un-press button.
