2019 MERCEDES GLA250 SPORT WG
Just had the Service A done at a non-dealer.
Neither they nor I can figure out how to reset the Service Indicator.
Certainly, I'm not the first to have had this problem.
Is there a solution for the lay person?

Thank you for that.

Bottom line: We seem to have cleared the service indicator, so I'm good to go. Thank you for your help in this matter.

We have a 2019, so these instructions were close but not quite the same as to what I had to go through.

Even worse, when I went through these steps it was still indicating that "Service A" was due.

One of the steps asked me which type of oil I put in there. Of course, I had no idea, so I randomly selected one. When the message wasn't cleared I went through the steps again and chose a different type of oil. Eventually, I gave up.
Lo and behold, the next day, upon using the vehicle, the service message didn't show up anymore, so something I did must have done something, but it wasn't immediate and I don't know what it was.

Regardless, I appreciate your help. I couldn't have done it without you.

Additionally, I need to vent somewhere and the internet is a good place for that -- I now have a lesser opinion of MB and won't be purchasing one of their vehicles again. I feel better now. Thank you.

Happy to hear you for the code reset.

It is my opinion that all manufacturers are trying to restrict DIY intervention. I don't blame them as the liability of our working on our cars falls into their lap with no control from them.

To that end resetting service codes is becoming more and more complex and in some cases (my Porsche for instance) you must have special equipment to plug into the OBD II to reset the unit.

I personally think the MB reset is offensively difficult but I also appreciate that I can do it from the driver's seat without plugging anything in.

Just curious ... Is there something beyond this that is causing you grief?
