Any idea what this is, I'd like to keep my beers cold on road trips!

Most likely it is air from the A/C ducted into the glove box. I had that on an Audi Q5 once.

Misread the title and though you were talking about a cooler in the glove box. Would be a fun idea to pursue in the summer months. Maybe insulate it while leaving the A/C duct open.
