At nearly 60 years of age I get stressed by noises. Most of the time my GLA 250 is nice and quiet, it certainly gips the road and feels solid. The noises I don't like:

  1. a rattling creaking from my drivers door on some roads- very annoying
  2. the DING DING DING on selecting reverse- Is this a factory setting it is very loud?
  3. The occasional loud bleep from the anti-collision assist which makes me panic as I am about to hit something but for the life of me I cant see why it went off
Nerves might settle as I get use to it, but someone tell me where to cut that wire to the I am in reverse bell- I know when I select reverse!!!!

Where are you located? US spec GLAs (and GLKs) don't have a reverse warning bell.

I get the random collision alert a few times every time I drive, usually with no other vehicle around. I have come up behind slower cars while in the 40-60 mph range, and applied the brakes, with the usual results, no lights no sounds. I have no reason to believe that the car would automatically brake.

I think that for a while I will try to prevent collisions the way I used to.
