Hi All - new to the forums here and picking up my GLA250 on Monday. My particular vehicle comes with the 5.8 inch screen and no back up camera which is a must have for me, but I was able to to get 15% off MSRP for this GLA with 3k miles on it (dealership loaner) so I feel very comfortable with the deal I am getting.

I did some investigating and found alot of activity on the CLA forums around a product made out of Korea to do a "plug and play" replacement of the 5.8 inch screen to a much larger 8 inch screen. I was wondering if anybody on the forums is familiar with the product by Navitech and have done the installation? I have been emailing the owner of the company to confirm compatibility with the GLA but according to the website, it should work...they offer a couple different capabilities including cell phone mirroring (requires some additional wiring to my understanding) or a basic plug and play version that is a simple swap with the OEM monitor. It appears there is also the ability to incorporate a backup camera with this sytem.

Wouldn't you have to attach it to the car's system somehow so that the camera knows to show the rear view when you've shifted to reverse?

Have a look at the naviplus site, and especially the instal videos. It's essentially plug'n'play...just like plugging a new monitor to your PC

the following is my opinion, based upon my experience with Navi Tech. I purchased a Navi tech back up camera system system for my Mercedes. They will not take pay pal or credit cards and I have learned the hard way , IMO, why. I sent almost 600 USD to Korea and received a system about 1-2 weeks later. I made arrangements to have the system professionally installed. It did not work. The installer had to remove the dash, radio, and screen each time for 6-7 times. We contacted the CEO of the Navi Tech and he said we did something wrong, he then went on to tell us to change the dip switch combinations which we did, five different times.! That told me he did not know what he was doing IMO. The CEO finally agreed to send another electronic box. It did not work either . Again the CEO said we must have done something wrong. The CEO continued to insult the installer stating that junion high school Korean kids can install the system in 30 minutes. Then the CEO stated he had sent the wrong box and I should pay to exchange my box with another customer 3000 miles away. I did . I received the exchange box and surprise.......it did not work either. I then spoke with the other customer and learned he was on his fourth box. I paid 400 dollars to have the system installed numerous times and finally removed. I have contacted the ceo re returning the system and he will not return my emails. At this point it looks like I am out 1000 USD . I told the CEO that , IMO, he has no honor and integrity. He will not reply. The above is my opinion based upon my experience with EMIT Navi Tech from Seoul Korea. I am curious what others here would think about the company now. IMO, I would not do business with Navi Tech. I hope this is not an example of all Korean companies. IMO, now I know why he insisted on having funds wired by Western Union . Now I can't receive my money back and again the CEO, once so friendly in trying to make the sale, now refuses to even return emails. I have told him to just give me an address to return the system to Korea for a refund. No response.. IMO, I would not do business with this company but I will allow each to draw their own conclusion. I hope you don't have to learn the hard way as I did when you deal with EMIT Navi Tech, in my opinion.

The CEO of the company has finally contacted me and stated they will refund the product. I think they have the potential to have a very good product but it did not work for me. I have returned the package to Korea and if I do not receive the refund I will apprise the forum. Actually I even asked the forum administrator to remove the post but that was refused. So , if I was the Korean company I would be upset with the administration of the forum. When the original poster asks that a post be deleted it should be honored. If I am not mistaken the forum guidelines and instructions say a post could be edited. I would have edited the names, etc. I can only say I wish the Korean company the best and I regret we experienced such difficulties.

Sadly, I now have to state that I was giving navi tech and the ceo the benefit of the doubt. I have now returned the camera, interface, etc and the ceo will no longer return email messages or my money. I am now out over 1,000.00 USD from navi tech. I know another person that had to have four different navi tech units before one worked. I would not buy from navi tech. IMO, the company is dishonorable. If the ceo will ever return emails and my money I would be willing to reconsider. Until that time, I would definitely not buy from a company that has no honor and integrity, IMO, again, that is my opinion from having dealt with them. Rude, and now, IMO, fraud. I was hoping to have a great system and be able to give great reviews. Instead, it never worked, the ceo made promises that were never kept. He even stated he would buy a plane ticket and come to me to ensure it would work properly. I was naive. Now I am naive and out 1,000.00 USD. I am in the process of calling the state Attorney General's Office, the FBI, Better Business Bureau, SEMA and the U.S. Postal Inspector's Office to pursue issues of internet fraud.

Maybe you missed my point....I agree with you about Navi Tech....the unit I bought and had installed was from carnavi-tech a completely different company and it worked perfectly from day 1 till now without any problems and even displays the front and rear sensors on the backup screen.The money your out was that just for the unit with shipping or the cost of installation as well....
