Mercedes-Benz has fallen behind its German competition Audi and BMW. In order to reverse this trend CEO Diester Zetsche has issued directives at the company to double sales from 1 million to 2 million units.

Mercedes has been having a bit of trouble in the Chinese trouble, and it also makes less profit off its cars than Audi and BMW, even though they cost more.

In order to make its new sales target Mercedes will be introducing 13 new models over the next decade, and it will be diligent in making in roads in the Chinese market.

Can Mercedes catch up to its rivals? Is this a small problem, or does it point towards much bigger issues?

Mercedes is beating the other German luxury brand in one area -- vehicles thefts. The National Insurance Bureau says the C-Class is the most stolen luxury vehicle in the US. The top 10 list also included The E-Class in 4th place and the S-Class in 10th place.

BMW had some models on the list as well. The 3-Series placed 2nd, and the 5-Series placed 6th. Other cars on the list include: the Infiniti G, Cadillac CTS, Lincoln MKZ, Acura TSX, and the Lexus IS.

So does ranking first on this list mean that people really like Mercedes, or does it mean that Mercedes are really easy to steal?
