Loving it so far.

One question guys - It looks like you can't manually turn off the headlights. I'm reading the manual, and sitting in the car trying to figure this out.

Every other car I've owned with auto headlights always had a manual off setting.

The reason I am interested is that the lights switch on when I pull in my garage. I have ready in numerous places that switching on Xenon lights needlessly drastically shortens the life of the bulbs. I always work my headlights manually.

Am I missing something in the manual?

Thanks!

Thanks Boris, I'm definitely thinking about doing something with the grille and the silver trim on the front and back valences. I've used PlastiDip in the past, and find it good for "high risk" areas like grilles and lower front trim. I prefer to use real paint in other areas though.

Any ideas on the headlight question?

Well for one, you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT that HID's shoudl not be flicked on and off incessantly.

The only way I can think around this is:

Get into your car.
Don't turn it over.
Flip light switch to 'parking light'
Start car.
Pull out of garage
Flip back to 'auto'

Personally, I am of the conspiracy theorist's mind that car brands have found a racketeering scheme with expensive HID bulbs, ignitors, and ballasts. Wrapped in an automated 'safety-first' marketing notion.

Thanks! Yeah, I took a ride back to the dealer this morning, and my sales rep actually met at my car. I asked him, and he confirmed that there is no way to operate the lights manually.

No big deal. I actually performed the procedure you suggested.
Car looks great. I think it would look even better with a black grille though. Definitely worth your effort if you can get around to it.

Seriously thinking about just replacing it with an AMG 45 grille. Looks to be a direct replacement.
