How do I solve this issue? just serviced, 4matic on vacation

It could be the electric power steering beginning to fail? It's an internal Archimedes screw type mechanism and when they start to go can feel heavy or imprecise control. I would think unrelated to 4matic servicing unless the front driveshafts are transmission-dragging and that rather the cause of the odd steering feel?

Of course if the transmission fluid is low for some reason it could also impart such a feel. Driving with low fluid is not recommended. But then that is typically a very odd feeling.

If it's just a steering heavy feel, and the control is reasonably good, I would say yes ok to travel that short distance.
My fine Dudes, and Dudettes,

It seems I am on for my first warranty trip to a dealer, waiting on a response from the advisor for the last service, 80 miles ago.

I'm gonna upload the codes etc, engine seems unaffected, shifting as well.

steering feels oddly heavy
no dragging heard coasting to a stop from 5mph
new onset out of the drive this am, driven 2miles < 30mph

QUESTION

Safe to drive 15 miles to dealer?

Dealerships do balk on "wear and tear" items. Since they get paid by corporate for warranty work I've never understood why they are at all resistant however, unless an edict has come done to constrain the "free" service?

Best we can do is stand our ground at the same time we try to be reasonable in seeing their perspective.
Don't go with the "lawyer" word unless a really dire situation (only once in my long automotive history).

All the best and do let us know how this goes.
Thanks for the research! one would assume then they stock that part.

Does anyone have advice to offer on ensuring this is a "free" visit?

the service advisor has tried to **** me at every opportunity, during last 2 visits which were pre paid, He'll have a different trick for a warranty visit, thoughts?
