Meet Mercedes Newest Offering

The latest spy shots give a better indication of the GLA’s shape, pronounced shoulders, glass roof and a sloping roofline almost hatchback-ish. The GLA's appearance will be tailored to compete against the sportier images of the Range Rover Evoque, BMW X1 and the upcoming Lincoln MKC.

Engine choices will be the same as offerings in the CLA saloon and A class meaning a base turboed 2-litre four cylinder producing 208 horses and 258 pounds of twist. An AMG version of the GLA is expected to push out 355 horses and 332 lb-feet of torque from the same 2.0T.

The GLA will be putting its power to the ground through a seven speed dual clutch gearbox with the ability to send power to either the front wheels or all four.

Owners will be be expecting to find something similar to the CLA inside. Bluetooth and a 5.8 inch screen (optional 7 inch upgrade available) running Mercedes COMMAND interface is standard equipment. Also available is a multimedia package that includes DVD capabilities, 10 gig music drive voice control and a backup camera.

The GLA is expected to go on sale towards the end of 2013 as a 2014 model. To slot the GLA into Mercedes’ lineup it was announced that the GLK will grow in size for its next generation. Production versions of the Mercedes GLA will debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show in September, stay tuned for updates.

DCT is fun but wouldnt a sport crossover with a stick make you feel king. GLA AMG + Dirt Road + Rowing yourself= Group B reenactments (spare me im a dreamer ;))
car makers these days could care less about offering manual transmissions especially in a car like this.

in a crossover they would want to maximize the fuel efficiency and the best way to do that is with a transmission that helps complete the recipe for the best MPG rating possible. Manual won't happen.
