4Matic is all wheel drive. Yes you have a rear axle.

Not trying to be lecturing.... gbarringer is correct, but what the GLA (and many modern vehicles have) is a rear differential with half shafts going from it to each rear wheel hub assembly. "Axle" is a rather arcane term in most applications in describing modern car suspension/tranny set up... wagons have axles/trucks have axles etc. Might be a fine point but I thought explanation would be of help.

I don't have 4Matic-do I have a rear axle?

Fbsdmd...now I understand your question... if you do not have a 4Matic then you have a 'front wheel drive' only set up and thus NO there is a not rear "axle" (or the set up as I explained in my prior post)

Thanks. I didn't think so. Someday when the slush is gone I will slide under and see what holds the wheels on.
