GLA 45 AMG spotted testing in Nurburgring

It was unclear if Mercedes was going to put out a performance model of the GLA, but recent pictures of a GLA 45 AMG have put those doubts to rest.

The GLA 45 AMG will have more power than any Q3 or X1. It will run on a 2-liter M133 engine that has 360 PS and 450 Nm of torque. The GLA 45 AMG will also get large diameter wheels, lowered suspension and a sporty body kit. This means that it won't be that great at off-roading.

Audi and BMW don't even make performance models of their Q3s and X1s. Do you think the GLA 45 AMG will be a success, or is there a reason that the other German automakers haven't followed suit?

and here's what it should look like once it's production ready...

just like the CLA, i'm expecting the GLA to be a class leading vehicle.

it's going to be very hard to any other company to dethrone these two.

I wonder if there will be anything different as far as design/styling with the AMG version?

Do you think that the people who would buy a GLA would really care for an AMG version? I'm sure it will sell a bit, but I don't really think the GLA buyer is someone who is looking to add performance parts to their vehicle. The whole point of the GLA is to offer a less expensive luxury vehicle to a younger demographic. While the CLA is still a sporty little car, the GLA is a crossover.

I don't know. Would you guys want to buy the AMG performance version of the GLA?

It'll look closer to this one. Note the larger air intakes for the brakes:

i always disliked those bigger vents, the smaller vents would look so much better. hopefully it will get enough negative reviews that it will force mercedes to have vents like on the concept for a mid-cycle refresh.
Hey now, some of us really like those big vents. With your username, I'm surprised you don't like them, since they're a hallmark of the AMG versions. Thankfully we have the option of going either way. :) No need to discontinue either.
Just wanted to let everyone know that this testing is still going on. The GLA 45 AMG was spotted testing again this time on the Nordschleife. All this testing is getting me very excited to see this guy come to market. Is this testing just routine, or is there something they are trying to fix-up before it gets sold to people?
interesting. should be a hoot to drive. wonder what pricing will be.
the space and the speed really makes up for it. One can only dream...

My guess is it will be a few thousand more than the CLA to start.
CLA starts around $30,000
I'm not too familiar with pricing of vehicles in this segment but it will be somewhere around $30,000 to start and inline with what the competition is at.
Yeah some where along the mid 30s would be reasonable to start off with and the GLA 45 AMG would most likely break in to the early $40k.
The CLA45 AMG's price has already been published for the USA: $48,375 base price including the $925 destination charge.
I'd assume the GLA 45 AMG would have the same 4Matic system as the CLA 45 AMG and A45 AMG?
Yes. I can't hunt it down right now, but I've read the GLA45 will have the four wheel drive system.
Good to know. With all that power I couldn't imagine any other way.

that would be the best for the GLA 45 AMG to come with the 4 matic system to balance things out and help with the handling.
Interesting... will the GLA 45 AMG model only be offered with 4wd?
