Yes, affix the door opener's remote to a sun visor in the vehicle. [yeah, I know ....]

I've had 'rolling code' garage door openers in several homes to date and it's always been a hit or miss chore to get them synched up with Homelink in many brands of vehicle. They typically require a precise sequence including getting out a ladder to also hit a button on the ceiling mounted opener. I no longer bother.

Stand on your head and one foot out of each door. Agree it is not the easy thing to do. Just follow the instruction in the manual and plan on doing it several times before it will work.

It depends on the maker and year of your garage door opener. The old ones I have requires two-man operation to sync it up: one up in the ladder hit the learn button on the opener body, one in the car.

However the new ones I have now (Chamberlain/LiftMaster MyQ) is much easier. You hit the learn button on the wall switch and you have ample time to sync with the car while inside the garage. Besides, with MyQ, I can add a bridge and control the garage using smart phones.

Agree, my GLA paired more easily with our Liftmaster unit than any previous auto, including Mercedes, we've owned. But you need a ladder and to think a step or two ahead.

I have linked many opener units to many cars. Had a lot of difficulty with the GLA when new, finally paired, but seemed as if the MB signal was weak - had to be within about 30' to activate. NOTHING resolved this, so as said in a prior post...our Chamberlain remote is on the visor. So 1990's, but it reliably works just fine from a long distance. Embarrassed when visitors are in the car, but so far no one has asked...
