I'm a big fan of YouTube car channels and it seems as everyone and their brother is swapping some K series engine for another K series engine, stuffing a LS into a Miata, cramming an Audi 5-cylinder int a Gulkf R, or something of that nature. Has anyone heard of people using a M133 or M139 from the AMG cars for an engine swap? Say a M139 into a Miatta or better yet a Mini Cooper or a Honda! Seems like it would be an interesting swap to create an AWD Honda CRX with almost 400HP.
Anyway, just a thought and happy Friday!
Haha, I love the creativity here! Swapping an M133 or M139 into something small like a Miata, Mini, or Honda is definitely a wild idea. Those engines are crazy potent for their size—M139 in particular makes nearly 400HP in stock form, so in a lightweight chassis it would be insane.
The main challenges would be mounting, wiring, and cooling. These AMG engines are tightly packaged, and figuring out mounts, transmission adapters, ECU tuning, and exhaust routing would be a serious project. Also, weight balance and drivetrain compatibility (especially if you want AWD) could get tricky fast.
That said, if someone has the fabrication skills and deep pockets, it could be a show-stopper build. Honestly, I’d love to see it done, maybe with a
xtryfun touch up paint kit handy too—lots of fab work usually ends up with little scratches or paint chips, and it’s nice to keep the car looking sharp while you’re swapping engines.
