A 'smart' battery tender is a much better option for this vehicle and its battery(s), e.g.:

Note that there is a ground stud (-) and a red cap protected positive (+) connection point.

Is there anything different (vs a "regular" vehicle) or special precautions about hooking up a household battery charger to a GLA 250. I just want to top off the battery in these frigid temps. Thank you in advance.

...When the amps drop down from 12 to 6, you need to unhook the charger.
