While driving, my 2018 certified GLA 250 car automatically shifts gears to Neutral. Has anyone experienced this? I just got the car 2 days ago.

Same problem with my GLB 200. when i'm in 8 gear the car shift to Neutral (but display show still D8). After five or more seconds it come back working. After tree time it happend i got "gearbox failure" message on diplay. The car is now under investigation since 23/12/2020. Still no solution.
I got the car 17/12/2020.

Is your defect similar to mine?

I’m having the same issue with my GLA 250, it’s so scary..
I’m taking it to the dealership.. have you heard anything about yours yet?

This happened to me yesterday after driving perhaps 1 mile as soon as I got on the highway and it was the scariest thing ever.

I just got this car, but I didn't buy it new. We thought we were going to die.

Please let me know if you've found something because I can't fathom how a car that does this hasn't been recalled.

I don't know why no one has responded to this. It's a very big deal.

AS this post is old, and like many, the owners do not get back with what was done to fix the problems when a problem is solved. It would be nice to see the answers to the fix, which could help when others have the same problems.

Right, this is a huge huge scary deal. We are still shook up about it.

I found that the GLA was recalled for this issue, but I only see 2019 and mine is an easier 45 AMG

An update from me, posted in other threads:

I received a call from Mercedes mechanic today that was appalling. He sent me some texts about replacing my front tires. Then called me to constantly repeat my car is out of warranty and that there's no recall on the car (even though there is a recall on the exact same issue for the last rendition of this model 2019).

I said: "something has to be done because its an apparent issue that many of us are experiencing, and this is the scariest thing i ever experienced in my life, I almost died!"

He said: "you almost died because of that bad tire on the front".

I lost it at that point. Couldn't believe after all the proof I showed him he was trying to find a random reason to make this a fault of mine.

I called MB USA customer service this morning and the rep didn't give me any useful info, he just told me to bring the car to dealership check. One of my friend told me that I should file a complaint with National Highway Safety. The more people complaint, the higher chance to push them to do a recall

So it's getting worse for me. The rep or whoever he is sending me updates about my car has been so rude and dismissive about my situation I can't even believe.

Okay, so the guy basically kept charging me for things unrelated to the actual issue, so yesterday I e-mailed the Mercedes CEO,

Received a call today and was connected to the executive referral team who ACTUALLY read everything, all of the complaints from the NHTSA, and are now appearing to handle this issue like i'm not making things up.

I just bought a 2019 GLA and it shifts into neutral while driving. This is frightening. I called Mercedes’ customer service. Oh well!!!!! It’s at the shop but they can’t recreate it. Ugh. No recall in this potentially dangerous situation?

I called Mercedes and I was told a recall doesn’t exist. My dealership is also unaware. This presents such a quandary - an unsafe one at that. Thank you for the link.

Looks like it’s Model Year ‘19 built before 8/10. Only four GLA’s have gone through this recall campaign so far. Check inside your driver door for a sticker with the build month and year to see if you’re affected or put your vin into nhtsa website.

We had this happen, the car would not come out of the "emergency" disabled mode, car was towed to the dealer turns out it was the wheel speed sensors. They replaced them under warranty.
