Hi All,
I know that you can open your trunk gate with remote key but I want to know if you can close it as well from remote key OR any button inside car?

Yes to both questions… Also I include info about a feature where you can program the hatch to open at a partial position.

>Using the FOB (aka Smart Key in Mercedes speak), click once (hatch icon) to open and click hold 1 second to close.

>For the interior hatch switch located on the drivers side door (lower part)>>

You can open and close the tailgate from the
driver's seat when the vehicle is stationary
and unlocked.

> To open: pull remote operating switch :
for the tailgate until the tailgate opens.

> To close: turn the SmartKey to position 1
or 2 in the ignition lock or with Keyless Go press start button without placing foot on brake (makes car go into accessory mode)

>Press remote operating switch : for the
tailgate until the tailgate is completely
closed.

You will hear a warning tone during the
closing process.

Limiting the opening angle of the tailgate

You can limit the opening angle of the tailgate.
This is possible in the top half of its
opening range.
This could be useful, for example, if there is
insufficient space above the tailgate.

! Make sure there is sufficient clearance to
open the tailgate fully when setting the
opening angle. The tailgate could otherwise
be damaged. Ideally, set the opening angle
outside.

Activating
>To open the tailgate: pull the handle on
the tailgate.

>To stop the opening procedure at the
desired position: press the closing button in the tailgate or pull the handle
on the outside of the tailgate again.

>To store the position: press and hold the
closing button in the tailgate until you hear
a short tone.
The opening angle limiter is activated. The
tailgate will now stop in the stored position
when opening.

>To open the tailgate fully, pull the handle
on the outside of the tailgate again after it
has stopped automatically. This does not
delete the stored position.

Do you actually have to hold the button down until it closes as that describes?
If you are asking about the FOB button, then no… just click and hold 1 second and release

Yep! Just came back from a grocery run... as always, open and close trunk with key fob. So nice to open it from 15-20 ft. away, perfected timed as you approach, and just a click close when you're done loading.

Well I just tested this out with my fob as I have the Keyless-Go option and don't use the fob much....lol. So if I clicked and released the rear hatch on the fob nothing happened but when I click and hold till it opens then release and again click and hold till it closes then release it works fine...I have attached a photo of my fob as well...

I think it depends on what package you have.

Page 85 of GLA manual shows a different key button than what I have, and mine will not remote close with the key.
