I feel like the Macan is in a slightly different category from the Q3 and the GLA. It is quite a bit more expensive. Its engine has 90 hp more than than the Q3 and 40 more than the GLA.

Its crazy that the GLA beat the Macan despite having a less powerful engine though. Proves not everything comes down to pure engine power.

It's the weight that kills it for the Porsche.

But overall, I think the Macan can be put in the same category just because the two are somewhat identical in size, both are compact "SUVs" and the Macan is also deceivingly small on the inside too despite it being 10" longer and 5" wider.

I was following a Macan S on my way to work this morning. It definitely appears much larger than the GLA on the outside. I wasn't sure whether the car I was following was a Macan or Cayenne until I go closer. But I was driving my Boxster, so my view perspective may have altered the size impression.

Sitting low on the Boxster is probably it. When I had my Z4, even the VW Golfs looked humongous to me. lol

I like the Macan a lot too and considered it before the GLA45 to be honest.

Not that it had any bearing on my end decision but I was really surprised at the review for the Macan. When it first came out, seemed like everyone loves it and how it is like a 911 in a compact SUV form and that it is great (it was mostly being put against the Evoque) it's like driving a car than an SUV and all but recently (especially after it's been put head to head with the GLA45) many starts complaining about it. Complaints like the steering is numb and it is too composed and is boring. The 180 is just a complete surprise.

One thing makes You want to buy GLA45 instead of Macan is... price. Configure Macan Turbo well equipped and You can buy GLA45 and A180...

Definitely price plus the discount. Macan is selling so well and so fast that dealerships just aren't giving any discounts or promotions at all, especially the S. Speaking of S, most of the reviews aren't even reviewing or pitting the GLA45 against the S (which is more similarly priced). They are using the much more expensive Turbo version for most of these head to heads.

well the MAcan is a heavily breathed on Q5... I do wonder if they interested in doing an even smaller SUV based on a breathed on Q3...

P.S does the RSQ3 suffer from pig nose understeer like the RS3?
