The ashtray pulls out and gives you some additional space.

If having a cig lighter bothers you, the you can obtain one of these and remove the lighter and insert>>



Or if you feel more ambitious you could remove the entire lighter assembly and install one of these>>>



BTW…I remove the lighters from my cars, but have not gotten to do it in the GLA yet

When i ordered my gla,the salesmen asked if i am a smoker or not.
Since i'm a non smoker the car will arrive without a ashtray but with an additional storage compartment.
I remember a youtube movie where they change this ashtray to a add. compartment

My ashtray has a light on the side of it, not sure it would be removable. Maybe it is already a storage area?
