Yes I've got those two. Like I said, I already have Carplay.
Also make sure you have those USB ports and specifically port 2 that is shown here![]()

Not really sure I follow. I tried both 'Red Hangup' + '*' + 3 and 'Red Hangup' + '#' + 3 and neither of them worked.
'Red Hangup' + '*' + '3', initially brought a message, reading from USB drive, and then it obviously said failed. so I suspect this is the right combination, however, I need some sort of USB drive to load it.
I'm not desperate to find the HMI, I will take it to the dealer in February and see if I can get Android Auto. Otherwise, there's a a company near Heathrow that can do this for a charge. They work with Mercedes and they said to me that having checked my VIN that it is possible to add Android Auto. I'm using this option as my last resort after Mercedes tells me it's not possible.
I cant wait to use Google Maps on the car. Or Waze. They're both amazing. compared to the built-in sat nav and /or Apple Maps.Perhaps it’s different on the 220d. Good luck! Once you have it, you will love it. Works with Waze as well.

A few questions for you;HMI version (should be at least 2016/06) can be retrieved use the following key combination (use with caution - only use it to locate the version and not anything else). I know it works on my 2016 GLA (12/2015 delivery date and HMI 07/11/2016). If your HMI is not at least 06/2016 you can try to get MB dealer to update, they may give you all sorts of reasons not to update. But that I you have to convince them. And you may have to pay for it.
So whatever you do just have to be very careful.
Hello @vr4, I spoke to their engineers. I wanted to be sure, its coming in from China so it will be a problem if it does not work. Once the money goes out, you have a hard time getting it back.A few questions for you;
(1) How did you lean that you need to update you HMI? The listing on Ali express for the dongle didnt mention anything about HMI.
(2) Did you get MB to update your HMI? What did it cost you?
Thanks so much for answering the questions!
Where did you learn about the HMI version? I don't see this written anywhere else. Here is a list they have on the back of the box. Note they don’t tell you about the HMI. So don’t go blindly and buy this without checking with them.

EDIT: I am so sorry @firstdown80, i didnt see the post before I submitted this one. Thanks for the answer!Like I said, I spoke their them. See my earlier response.
But you can try your luck and just buy it and if it does not work, then get HMI updated or it could be something else.
No worries. Unfortunately I don't know if its possible. You have your HMI Version Date?EDIT: I am so sorry @firstdown80, i didnt see the post before I submitted this one. Thanks for the answer!

I will try to look it up tonight, but my guess is that it is "old". My car was a 12/15 production MY2016.You have your HMI Version Date?
Did you try the serial number trick posted earlier in the thread?I'm really annoyed I can't find my HMI version date.
I tried two combinations:I will try to look it up tonight, but my guess is that it is "old". My car was a 12/15 production MY2016.

That is not from Autosvs/unichip.Yup, the first photo is the one I got. Fingers crossed it will work.
(Im sorry for not posting a direct link -- previously the mods deleted my thread on the topic because I guess they thought I was promoting the device -- which I am not).
I am tempted to run it without doing the HMI update. Any thougts on doing that?
