Lately my GLA has been running hot. I even put more radiator fluid in and it's still running higher than halfway on the temperature gauge. Is this normal? This the temperature gauge while sitting at a drive thru.

Welcome.

That looks normal. At least it's the same as our 45. This topic has come up before and the feedback had indicated equivalent readings.

Normal, HOT is when the needle is pointing up to the H.

x10 normal range, certainly not hot. If you had the AMG, mine is in same range and is about 199* steady-eddie every single drive, AMG having a readout to actually tell you what your temp is.

MB did a knock out job on their cooling system. Full temp is reached quickly and then accurately maintained over all driving conditions ... cool or hot ambient, simple commute, stuck in traffic, high altitude spirited mountain pass enjoyment, air conditioner full blast. Doesn't matter. I wish my Porsche was half as good!!!

Mine did the same thing in the same place. 80 degree day, 2019 45 Amg, driving in sport +. Message came on. " trans. Oil overheated drive with care". Haven't been able to drive past comfort mode without overheating.

Transmission oil is a different matter from the water temperature. How many miles on yours? Tree first transmission service on the 45 is scheduled at 30K miles.

You should have an AMG screen that indicates the water, oil, and Transmission temperatures specifically. Check those.

Then I'd let the dealer know.

My 45 is in for service engine light appeared a couple of days ago, service is overdue (COVID excuse) dealer says software update done which should clear the thermostat issue (anyone else had this) vehicle is a 2018 registration in UK if software doesn't clear fault new thermostat required under warranty vehicle has covered 16000 miles. Question, will a software update cover all updates (transmission etc) or just thermostat.
Will post pics later.
Thank you.
