just got the update on my Pixel 3. The only feature that really interests me is the support of MMS and RCS.

It's nice, but they need to remove the "6 click" limit. It's ridiculous that I can only choose from 6 Sirius channels, or can't scroll through a list of artists in Music. So for now, my SD card and the MB Media Player will still be my choice for listening to my persona music collection.

I don't see that will ever happen. it is the foundation/promise of Android Auto: don't get distracted.

I don't use AA for any music playing. If I do, I will subscribe to and use the Sirius radio instead. I use AA for traffic and Navigation and it works perfectly than any other solutions I have tried.

My only use for AA is Waze. But AA crashes my phone about once an hour with Waze requiring a full phone reset. Kind of destroys the intent of minimizing distractions!!!

Additionally, AA prevents condition reporting, so you become a leach rather than a participant in the community.

I don't see this changing. So I use my phone with a fabricated mount that puts it between the steering wheel and the center display ... minimal eye movement to look at it, minimal hand movement to make reports.

So AA for me became a big meh. Not getting it on a pre 2017 is not a big deal IMHO.

About Waze crash, I recently upgraded to Google Pixel 3 and Waze has not crashed once for me. My previous phone, ZTE AXON 7, will crash often on the same version of Waze when using AA.

Also, reporting in Waze still works but cumbersome to use due to lack of touch screen.
