New GLA, new member. Happy days.👍

Hi all! Just bought my GLA as my first time MB, an what a nice little car! Its a 2015, 200CDI aut. 4-matic with 83000 km. It fits right into my needs. Up here in Norway its now quite cold, an this car is super on iceroad driving. Not even once have I felt the car slipping (we'll see, I WILL provoke it &#x1f92d Ive got a boat trailer (summer use)with total wheight appr. 1500 kg's, and this small GLA 4-matic pulls 1800 kgs. I think that is quite uniqe.

My only fear is the usual EGR/DPF syndrome. No problems so far, but i really try to take the car for some long-runs at least once a week, to keep the doctor away.
This engine is the least powered version of the 2,2 diesel. Checked a little about tuning, and it is quite possible to tune the engine from 136 hp/300Nm to 200 hp/430Nm, but I'm not shure how this might influence the EGR/DPF function. Negative or positive?

Are also considering a total EGR/DPF delete, but I would'nt want to ruin the dpf- filter in case I would have to replace it due to encreased government control.
Does enyone know any afforable replacement downpipe for this engine on a GLA?

Nice to find a forum for my GLA!🙂

Hallo Tunkvalo, congratulations on your GLA and welcome to our forum. It sounds like you are putting your GLA to good use. There are not many reports among our members of using GLAs to tow anything so your post is very interesting.

We look forward to you joining our discussions. We are an international forum with a variety of GLA derivatives represented here. It is a helpful reference to others if you add location, GLA model and year to your member profile, which will then display each time you post. You can do so from the "User CP" link on the upper right of most browsers.

Welcome, note on the towing. Make sure the hitch you install is approved for the GLA. Many reports on aftermarket hitches created leaking when installed.

Hitches? I'm not shure I get what you refer to (I may be lost in transfer &#x1f642. If its the tow bar, that one is a original Mercedes mount.

Here in the USA we can't order a tow package (hitch) on the GLA. Some have added the hitch but of installed improperly it can leak water into the frame and cause problems.

In the USA most of our slang automotive terms come from the days of horse & buggy/wagon and very early cars so it can be confusing. Case in point is "hitch your team [of horses] to the wagon" and thereby "hitch" as that point of connection. My favorite is "trunk" which in early US automotives was literally a luggage trunk simply placed and tied down on the rear of the car. And "dash" (dashboard) is another that comes from carriages as a literal front board to block roadway splashes (dashes).

In the 'states the GLA is not rated for towing and therefore the option is not available to us but of course where there's a desire the aftermarket usually steps in. However as with all 3rd party modifications caveat emptor.
