New Infiniti QX30 Owner

Hey guys. I hope I am welcome here. I just picked up a 2017 Infiniti QX30, which I'm sure most of you know is essentially a GLA250 in disguise. I love this thing. I have no intentions of ever trying to argue which is better, I think both the GLA250 and QX30 are both equally awesome. There isn't much activity on the QX30 forum, so I thought I'd join here to get some information on the engine and other share components. I've already done my first mod by purchasing the Mercedes Keyless Go Start/Stop Ignition button. For whatever reason, Infiniti included all the necessary components for Push button ignition, including the proximity sensors and special door handles with the "square" buttons on them, but did not include the $35 button. Popped it right in, and it has worked flawlessly ever since. My QX30 is a fully loaded Sport model, which includes the 19" sport wheels, panoramic moonroof, navigation, Black Dinamica headliner and A-pillar, Sport Leather seats, Adaptive LED headlights, Blind spot warning, land departure warning, forward emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, 360 degree around view camera, auto high/low headlights, and Intelligent Park Assist. And of course it has the same 2.0L turbo, with the 7 speed DCT. It stickered for $43,195, but I got a sweet deal at $38,500. Feel free to ask me any questions about it, I hope to learn a lot from you guys. Here are some pictures. And a few bonus pictures of my old Q50 Hybrid Sport that was totaled two weeks ago because some lady ran a stop sign. Also including a link to my Google Photos album for easier viewing of the pictures. https://goo.gl/photos/UE6gCmiT6S83eivE8

You are welcome - at least from me here... The QX30 is like a "brother from another mother". Looks different but similar genes. Pretty much the same inside.

I like everything about the QX30 and would have considered it over the GLA...but can't get past the C pillar zag-zig trim. Nissan/Infiniti signature and that's AOK, just not my style. But the QX is very pretty, nice lines - and more of them than the GLA. Some interior components are laid out better than the GLA IMO. So we are cousins with similar blood lines.

BTW, nice color. Good choice, and the $$deal was very good. Congrats and enjoy the ride!

Just saw your crash pics....thought they were from the QX30...OMG... all ok re no injuries et al?

Wow QX30Aggie, great to get your perspective on the GLA forum. Your insights are interesting. You need to share "the rest of the story" on the mishap photos. Welcome to the GLA forum!

The C pillar "zig-zag" trim is one of the things I LOVE about the styling. Interesting how some people love it, and some people hate it! Thanks for the compliments, I really love the color. It is what I tried to get in my Q50, but they didn't have the graphite shadow on the lot when I bought it, so I settled on black for the Q50. Was defintely glad to get the graphite shadow (gray) this time.

About the wreck, it was pretty crazy. I was scheduled to turn my Q50 lease in on Wednesday, and of course, Tuesday night driving home from work, I am driving down a two lane road, and my road has no stop sign. A lady was stopped at her stop sign (2-way stop sign only), and then all the sudden she took off crossing the street I was driving on. There was no time to do anything, not even my forward braking from the technology package had enough time to do anything. I t-boned her at 35 mph, which then pushed her into a BMW 5-series. It totaled her car (2011 Hyundai), caused $31,000 in damages to my Q50, which they deemed totaled, and caused $25,000 in damages to the 5-series. Both of the other drivers went to the hospital complaining of pain, but were otherwise OK and I believe released that same night. I got several painful airbag burns, cuts and bruises that are still trying to heal, over 2 weeks later.

Style is style.

I skipped you car because MB had the 45 as a choice. If it weren't for the 45 ...

Welcome aboard. It's always nice to have another view.

Yes, you do

Welcome! I had no idea these cars were similar - are both built by Daimler? Anybody got the story or history behind this joint development? Very cool!

Do we know what components they might share?
